No drastic changes that you or others are concerned about

Parents Actions: Know

Your child’s friends’ and friends’ parents phone numbers

Parents Actions: Talk
  • Talk regularly on drug use
  • Ask about friends who are doing drugs
  • Tell child who besides parents he may ask for help with drugs or other issues
Parents Actions: Do
  • Keep your child busy
  • Educate yourself on technology & other communication channels your child uses
  • Check child phone (calls, messages, pictures, venmo and other PAYMENTS)
  • Check child room, backpack, closets, clothes

SUSPECTED USE:

Child behaviour is abnormal, sometimes you and others have concern about him

Example of Child Behaviour
  • Disconnection from family
  • Verbally or physically abusive
  • Sudden increase or decrease in appetite
  • Disappearance of valuable items or money
  • Telling lies
  • Breaking curfew
  • Sudden change in friendship
Parents Actions: Do
  • Perform drug test (must be monitored); include Fentanyl strip
  • Contact friends, parents, school council
  • In adition to above, do actions from Prevention

CONFIRMED USE/ ADDICTION:

Your child got hold of drugs or drug paraphernalia

Example of drug paraphernalia*

  • Cigarette rolling papers
  • Roach clips
  • Ramnants of drugs
  • Plastic baggies
  • Pipes
  • Glass vials
Parents Actions: Do

Take your child to professional drug counselor or his doctor immediately and follow their recommendations

EMERGENCY:

Your child shows symptoms of overdose

Example of overdose
  • Rapid breathing
  • Slow or ineffective breathing
  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Limp body
  • Reduced or loss of conciousness
Parents Actions: Do
  • Call 911 immidiately
  • Perform narcan till 911 arrive
